Hi Tweets,
Too new even for the BirdBooker Report but many avid birders, including the late Roger Tory Peterson, Kenn Kaufman, Dennis Paulson and many Tweeter contributors learn and enjoy butterflies to compliment birding activities during slow mid-day periods. Two local authors, Dave Nunnallee and David James, have just published their landmark book: Life Histories of Cascadia Butterflies. This is the first guide from any part of the world that shows the reader all life stages of all species of a geographical region. There are exceptional photos of every life stage (egg, each instar, chrysalid, adult) of every butterfly in the Pacific Northwest region. Also covers lots of valuable info on which host plants & which habitats would suit each species. Published by Oregon State University Press, it is getting rave reviews!
A few copies are available at the Seattle Audubon Nature Center. Their extended holiday hours are 10:00 to 7:00 this Monday through Friday. 10:00 to 4:00 on Christmas Eve day. Members of any Audubon chapter can receive a 20% discount on books.
Seattle Audubon is located at 8050 35th Avenue NE.
