Yesterday, Shawneen Finnegan and I chased a couple of the recent rarities found in southwest WA. We saw the Vancouver Northern Mockingbird and then spent a couple hours birding the Woodland Bottoms. We looked for the pair of Rusty Blackbirds that have been seen at the silage pile along Caples Rd. and did not find them. The large blackbird flock was way out in the fields when we were there. However, we did find a Rusty Blackbird along Dike Rd. about a mile north of the intersection of Dike Rd. and Caples Rd. Given that this bird is about two miles from the known site, we think it might be a "new" bird.
