?We stopped briefly again at the new Juanita Beach Park natural area this weekend and were thoroughly disappointed. First, as we made our way to the estuary overlook, a man with a dog off-leash ran his dog through the roughly 250-300 shore birds at the mouth of the creek, scaring most off. We then tried the trail through the natural area, again two consecutive dogs being walked through the natural area, we did not see ONE BIRD on this trip other than those that took flight once the dog's gave chase. With the ongoing problems with the powerboats encroaching the Bay Park and breaking the noise ordinance, one has to wonder why any Planner would think it a good idea to defeat the entire purpose of having a small, natural habitat area by allowing dogs. This is the only habitat area in the park and represents 1/15 of the park, to me it seems a no-brainer to make it truly preserved, but that would take enforcement and as we've seen at Marymoor, that just doesn't happen.
