Greetings,
Four Snowy Owls were present December 21, 10:45 AM, just over the dike to
the west at the end of Thomle Road. One posed, two were being a bit
reclusive, and one was flying about. To reach this spot, from Stanwood, take
88th or 84th Avenue NW south which turn into Marine Drive. Just over the
Stillaguamish River turn west onto Thomle Road, follow it to its end. The
dike is to the west. It is posted no trespassing about ? mile back, but not
at the small bridge which crosses the slough. I met a couple locals on the
dike and neither said anything was wrong with hiking across the goose-poop
infested field to the dike.
Also in the area were Rough-legged Hawks, Am. Kestrel, Short-eared Owls, and
W. Meadowlarks.
