My niece who lives in Seattle close to the Zoo saw a Stellar Jay in her
cherry almond tree on Tuesday. I thought that was unusual--to see
stellars in Seattle--am I right or not?

Yesterday, there was a Varied Thrush near my feeders again, but he was
grubbing on the ground for something which must have been delicious
because he was busy about it for over five minutes. A Fox Sparrow seems
to have taken up residence in the brush pile near the feeders, too. I
thought the frost on the ground might drive him away, but so far, no.
