After driving through night, and a spot of owling near havilah, John
puschock and I observed the gull flying at the north end of lake palmer at
about 7:50am today. The gull flew around for five minutes or so giving good
but distant views before heading south across the lake.

we were unable to relocate the bird before we left for the long slog home
at 9:30. There were still large areas of open water but the lake seemed to
be rapidly freezing.

good luck to anyone still trying for it, it's an incredible bird
