Subject: [Tweeters] Fishing line entangled Western Grebe at Edmonds Pier

I hate to mention this kind of news but I saw a Western Grebe outside the
boat harbor at Edmonds Pier (about parallel to the Sea Scout boat) about
noon today. The bird was very near shore and just past a chain link barrier
to prevent people from walking out on a concrete wall on the north side of
the harbor. When I first saw the bird it was actively picking at multiple
strands of heavy monofilament towards its rump. I suspect it is also around
the legs but the bird did appear to be swimming slowly. After scoping on
the pier for about 10 minute the bird appeared a little farther out along
the wall but also more lethargic. I wanted to write sooner but ran some
errands. Anyone have any ideas for help?
