Thanks to all who have replied.? So far the votes are for great egrets.?They were about the same size?as the great blue herons in the field with them.? I had never before seen egrets and?was basing my ID on the color and shape of the bills, which looked?thicker?than the ones on the great egrets illustrated in my Sibley's.?? The bills on the great egrets in my Sibley's?were partially black, while the ones on the herons I photographed were completely yellow.
