Just got back from Palmer Lake. Nine of us were staked out on the deer carcass until 4 with no luck on the Ross?s Gull. As Wilson mentioned several different groups of birders were on the lake from shortly after sunrise until 4 with no reports. The lake is mostly open water and I was able to scan pretty much all of the lake surface between 2 and 4 this afternoon with no gull of any species sited. Not many waterfowl of any species there but I did see Canada Goose, Cackling Goose, Mallards, Common Mergansers, and a few American Coots.

Interestingly enough this the second time this year I have got to chase after this bird. At least I had more luck in April. For those who are wondering that bird was in Iceland and they also have only a handful of records and the bird was causing quite a buzz in the local birding community.

I just got a phone call from Sherry and Arden Hagen who were at Palmer Lake from 11AM to 4PM today and did not see the Ross's Gull. They talked to the other birders and it hadn't been seen or reported since 8AM yesterday.
