On our third try, we saw the Snowies. Monday my wife and I walked
about a mile out Damon Point before the rain and wind drove us back.
Tuesday a huge storm came through so we didn't even get out of the
car. Yesterday we were determined, braved the weather and were
rewarded for our efforts. About 1 PM, we had a nice view of two
Snowies about a quarter mile past the pond and there were two further
east. Returning birders reported as many as 8 more Snowies about a
half mile further out nearer the point itself.
Earlier Wednesday, a flock of 5 Tundra Swans sailed by the house we
stayed in at Copalis Beach, and we saw two flying near the driving
range at Ocean Shores yesterday afternoon.
Cheers,
Richard
