I need your help with a project. I am writing an article on introgression
(interbreeding) between "Yellow-shafted" and "Red-shafted" Northern
Flickers. I know that the breeding flickers in Washington superficially
appear to be "Red-shafted" types, but I also know that some birds show
signs of mixed parentage, and some of those signs can be dangerously
subtle. What I need are photos of breeding flickers from your state. I am
willing to look at any birds you have photographed, whether or not you
think they might show aberrant plumage traits.

I would appreciate you sending me reasonably sized images or links to
images of flickers photographed during June and July in Washington, or any
photos of birds you know to be breeding in other months (April, May,
August, etc.). I can't promise to get back to you right away, but if you
respond, I will keep you in the loop as the research progresses.
