Hello Tweeters,
When I was on the spot where the Ross's Gull was feeding on the dead Deer,I
noticed that he tried so hard picking to get few small pieces of the
Meat. But it looked that the Skin was to though. So I decided with a mission
and a sharp Knife to cut some of the skin off.It was Thursday the 29 and the
Weather was glorious with sunshine,it was already 2.00 PM in the afternoon.I
looked for the Gull, but no Gull to be found .The water recited so the Deer
was laying in the open.It took me over an hour to open some part open and I
was able to cut some pieces off what I laid higher up.Still no Gull came
,what was his routine the North end in the morning,in the afternoon sitting
on the place where the Deer was.It was than already after 4,00PM and the
clouds start
getting dark.So I left the at 4.30 PM ,with watching the Lake, there was 30
Common Merganser in one group. This was further south on Palmer Lake. I also
noticed that Spectacle Lake was partly not frozen,In a distance I Spotted a
Small white Gull, and since it gotten quite dark,I COULD NOT CERTAIN THAT IT
WAS THE ROSS'S GULL,but there was nothing beside this small Gull on this
Lake.I trying to stay in Tonasket ,but the prices are to high,so I went back
to Omak in the same Motel we staying always in February on our WOS trip.I
went back to Tonasket the other day after I BIRDIED Conconully in the
Morning.I went and looked if theRosse's Gull returned,it looked that halve
of the cut up meat was missing. But NO GULL was seen ,South ore North on
Palmer Lake.
Conconully the 30th of December.in some flooded Field
30 Green-winged Teal &52 Mallard Ducks,
going up where the Sharp-tailed Grouse where before that I saw a big bird
sitting on something low ,grabed my Bins and it was gone.So I took my Scope
and I SAW 1 Sparp-tailed Grouse behind some vegetation sitting low. There
where few birds in Town, but 1 Adult Northern Goshawk almost in the same area
where we had one before .
In the Park white-breasted NUTHATCH& Black-capped Chickadee's some house
finches & 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk.Going out
high in FIR TREES 8 RED-CROSSBILLS,2 Varied Thrushes,Song Sparrow,
Chestnut-backed Chickadee's.Stopping again on the Grouse Wildlife spot, there
was sitting 1 Sharp-tailed Grouse feeding on the Waterbirch probable the
same grouse but the other was way to the right where the building where last
bush.
1 Golden Eagle 2 Red tailed Hawk, 3 CHOKER, Going back on the small road
what leads to Highway 97 in a BRUSHY AREA I found a small flock of 25
birds of Common Redpoll, who flew up hill where there went to some
houses.THIS IS A SECOND SIGHTING ON THIS SPOT.
The 29 th of December driven the long Road from Tonasket to Palmer Lake
there was a golden Eagle feeding on a prey.I took some good photos of this
bird flying off in to the hill.
Going home on the 30th driving great over Blewet it was still light there
was a big crash on Thursday evening and another big one on Friday early in
the morning SUPER Icy.So it is smart going not to early and not late when it
freezes up.I drove both cars with no SHANE on but all weather Tires.

Cheers Ruth Sullivan
