This afternoon, Dave and I walked the Larry Scott trail in Port Townsend. We were surprised at the bird activity in the brambles at the bottom of the bluffs: Song and Golden-crowned Sparrows, small flocks of Bushtits and House Finches, two Bald Eagles, a couple of Towhees, and a hummingbird, which I'm sure was an Anna's. Best of all, though, was a Northern Harrier, cruising the grasses against the bluffs. I think this is the first Harrier we've seen inside the city limits. Just past the PT Paper Mill, a sparrow obligingly perched on a twig for a long while, but I couldn't make a positive ID. Drats!
