Subject: [Tweeters] turkeys in La Conner?

Tweeters,

I believe the turkeys have been there for at least 3 or 4 years. I had
heard that a decision had been made to capture them and remove them, but
apparently that hasn't happened yet. Or perhaps the "Save-the-Turkeys"
League intervened, and the whole thing has been called off?

The La Conner local paper had an article about the turkeys last year, and
several La Conner businesses have a clip of it displayed. The turkeys are
apparently established residents, and have been making a real pest of
themselves as they forage in people's vegetable gardens. The town council
has taken steps to curb their activities -- fencing and containing them,
IIRC, but I don't remember the details. Anyway, neither guns nor ovens are
involved ; -)

There were about 6 or 8 turkeys milling about in La Conner today around
11:30 this morning. They were on 3rd and State St. Are they somebody's
pets or is that wild life in La Conner...
