I'm thinking of making a trip to the Sequim/Port Angeles area this week.
I have read a lot of information about places to bird in that area, but
this would be my first birding visit, so one of the things I will be doing is
just visiting as many sites as possible, just to see them. I do have some
questions about specific birds I would like to try to see, though.
First, what are my chances of seeing Rock Sandpiper at Ediz Hook (or
anywhere else)? Does anyone have any tips on exactly where to look, or the time
of day or state of the tides to look? Do I have a chance of seeing one
without clambering over huge piles of rocks, like at the Ocean Shores jetty?
Second, I have seen the reports of a couple of Snow Buntings at Ediz Hook.
Any advice on exactly where or how to look for them?
What about American Dipper? I know that one is usually seen on the
Wednesday morning walk at the Dungeness River Audubon Center, but are there any
other particular places I might look for them?
The same goes for California Quail and Evening Grosbeak. Any particular
locations?
I have also seen a couple of reports of Redheads being seen in the area
this winter. Anything recent? Any particular sites that I should check?
One final question ? are the crows in that area mostly American Crows,
Northwestern Crows, or hybrids? Or, is that a matter of opinion?
Thanks for any information you can provide to me.
