The bill to change WA State's bird was introduced by Ross Hunter of

As pointed out elsewhere, the Great Blue Heron is already the official
bird of Seattle! And if you think that changing the state's bird is a
waste of time, the state lawmakers want to make coffee our official state
drink:

ALSO, the Sen. Dan Swecker of Rochester has introduced a bill to make
Tenino sandstone the state rock. How about an official state moss?
