if i thought it were necessary to change the state bird, i'd suggest peale's
peregrine.

that said, there seems to be no compelling reason to change state birds
every so often, in my judgment, anyway. that goldfinch is hot looking and
fun to watch. have we no sense of history?

finally, it costs money and takes legislative time to print, distribute and
act on bills. seems to me the legislature has more than enough real
business on its plate w/o throwing this into the sausage grinder.
