Hi Tweeters,

For my completely unbiased, western side of the Cascades pick, I would choose the Marbled Murrelet.? Besides a personal soft spot for alcids, to me it represents our remaining old growth forests (coastal region anyway) as well as ocean habitats.? With a scope, it is a fairly easy bird to observe during the winter months.? Also, any positive attention that it may derive from being the state bird may prove useful in helping out this threatened species.
