Subject: [Tweeters] Speaking of organizing the list...

There is not much that subscribers can do about updating the archives, is
there? At lesat on most lists, that is something the owner must do or
is it the host? Anyway, in most cases, rank and file members are not
allowed to meddle with it.

But one organizational problem that we could all help alleviate on this
list is the unnecessary retention of the old message when we respond to
it. If you do not get your list mail in digest form, you probably do
not realize how extensive this practice is on this list. Sometimes,
there are as many as six old messages remaining on a new one--and
sometimes several of the retained messages are exceptionally long ones.
Retaining them on the response not only takes up unnecessary space in
the archives, but also for those of us who subscribe to multiple birding
lists as well as lists related to hobbies and, even, our careers, those
long messages certainly do fill up the mail box quickly.

Just a thought...
