Just for the case if anyone is heading to Tokeland this weekend, there was a very cooperative Long-tailed duck in Westport today. The grassy area around parking lot at the end of Schafer Island Beach App was flooded and rains created a pond there. I was heading straight to the beach but the duck popped up, out of nowhere with two mallards. Interesting was that mallards took off after harrier gave them a push but the LT duck just parked in the grass, about 50ft away and pretended to be a portrait model. I thought it could be a captive bird since I never saw them closer than 3-4 hundred yards to the shore but it got alerted anytime something moved around. This is a girl but still, cute little duck, perfect plumage.
See you in the field.

Igor
