Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday February 10. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

The EASTERN PHOEBE near the mouth of the Winchuck River was seen again
February 4. A young YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER is now being seen in the
Sellwood area of south Portland. A CASSIN?S VIREO was seen in the same area
February 5.

Increasing numbers of TURKEY VULTURES were reported during the week. Migrant
TREE SWALLOWS were reported from many areas. On February 5 five BARN
SWALLOWS, 50 VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS, and over 100 TREE SWALLOWS were at
Ridgefield NWR. Other BARN SWALLOWS were reported during the week from
Myrtle Point, Hillsboro, and Smith/Bybee Lakes in North Portland.

On February 6 a gray phased GYRFALCON was at Cape Blanco. A LONG-TAILED DUCK
and three ANCIENT MURRELETS were off Port Orford February 3. On Winter Lake
near Coquille during the week were 92 GREAT EGRETS. Up to five LONG-TAILED
DUCKS are now at Yaquina Bay.

The overwintering BLACK PHOEBE near the old pellet plant site on Sauvie
Island continues to be seen. An immature GOLDEN EAGLE was at Sauvie Island
February 8. On February 9 an ANNA?S HUMMINGBIRD was seen on a nest at Oaks
Bottom in Portland.

On February 6 a SAY?S PHOEBE was seen at Olex in Gilliam County. It was most
likely an early spring migrant. Several have been wintering in Coos and
Curry Counties.
