Some of you knew or reported about the trumpeter swan in distress at the
Dugwalla tidal pond on Whidbey Island. It was significantly caught up in a
duck decoy line and a mallard decoy was attached.
The news is that the swan has been rescued by Brad Otto of WDFW on Monday.
It is at a rehab center and the early prognosis is that it will recover.
As a reminder: If you or you know someone who waterfowl hunts please remind
them to pick up their decoys each day when they are finished hunting. Other
animals, including swans, can get caught in them and be injured or die. This
is the second swan caught in decoy line in two years on Whidbey Island.
