Thanks to everyone who responded to my request for advice on getting my ten
year old Pentax binoculars repaired. I will send them to Pentax with twenty
bucks and look forward to getting them back in good shape. Seems like all
that have tried this have had good outcomes.



Also, a while back I asked about apps for my Droid and based on the
recommendations I went with the Sibley app. Ibird was tempting but when I
learned that the developer was resistant to pay for the use of the sound
recordings and that the paintings were made by folks who had never seen the
birds I went with the trusted David Sibley. The text for each bird is longer
than in the big field guide and the comparison tool is very convenient. I
have yet to use it for any listing and may not. I do enjoy having it in the
field. Also, I already had the Bird Songs of the PNW by Keller and Vyn and
have found it to be quite useful.
