The day was just so beautiful I had to get out.
Took the ferry to Bremerton and then went down
Hood Canal. Nothing unusual but good light meant
good looks at and some photos of many pelagic
cormorants, Common and Barrow's Goldeneyes, surf
and white winged scoters, mergansers, eagles, one
peregrine, a few pigeon guillemots and a few
grebes. The ferry crossing was extremely windy
and rough and that cut into some of the birding
and picture taking. I have posted one mystery

and would welcome thoughts on the ID. When I took
the picture at quite a distance I was pretty sure
it was a common murre, but now blowing it up it
still seems so but nos so sure given the amount of
white on the underside of the wing. Only saw the
bird in flight and the other picture is even less
clear. As evident in the other pictures in the
album it was really nice to have both goldeneyes
so visible in good light to differentiate.
