My wife and I were at the west 90 Sunday afternoon from 4:30 until 5:15. The Short-eared Owls (SEOW) were out in force; every scan I made had a larger
number of owls out hunting. My last scan at 5 PM had 22 of them flying, perched , or on the ground. There were numerous vocalizations from them as
well. I enjoyed watching a SEOW repeatedly dive at a Redtail perched on a fence post. There was also a Peregrine in the area, as well as a number of
birders.
