Tweeters,

This afternoon, at about 5:15 pm, my husband and I watched a White-tailed
Kite fly very quickly across our 5 acres in ne Thurston County. It was very
windy at that time, and it flew from north to south. I am a reasonably good
birder with a fair amount of experience with this species in MS, CA, and
WA.. My husband, who is not a birder, but has gone on several birding trips
with me, including Costa Rica and several WA chases (for a non-birder, he
has a great life list, which I keep), and is one of the most observant
people I know, concurs that this was a White-tailed Kite (after showing him
several field guide pictures). My husband has an amazing memory for almost
everything he sees except the names of birds and people, and I really trust
his assessment. I was totally sure of what I saw before I showed my husband
any pictures, but was so amazed that I wanted some confirmation!

It was pretty exciting!
