Hi All,

This is a little delayed but we were able to do a little birding this
weekend in Whatcom County with the awesome weather.
Highlights included:

Lummi Flats/Red River Road:
Short-eared Owls - at least 15
Gyrfalcon - 1
Snow Buntings - 17
Rough-legged Hawks - 2
Northern Shrike - 1
Herring Gull - 1

Wiser Lake:
Redhead - 2

Semiahmoo Spit:
Sanderling - many

Lake Padden:
Eurasian Wigeon - 1
An interesting wigeon hybrid whose head had the normal green coloration but
the rest of the head was a creamy white/yellow color that matched the color
of the tops of their heads. Its body was the color of a normal American
Wigeon (unfortunately didn't have my camera along)

There were also at least 7 swallows at Wylie Slough in Skagit County on
Sunday (1 Barn, 6 Tree). We had a total of 87 species in Whatcom County on
Monday.

Happy Birding,
Brian Uher-Koch and Julie Reynolds
Bellingham, WA
