Hello Tweeters &Birders,
Today is a special day here in my yard,THE BIRDS LIKING THE SNOW SO
MUCH,that THERE BEEN OUT SWIRLING Around since 7.00 AM, hanging all my many
Suet feeders out.It was 24 degree and my hands tart to get so cold, that I
went back in the house warming up.It Snowed all night and now the snow still
fallen.
The reason that I take the Suet feeder in to fill for the next day and worry
that there attracting RATS.Sofar I never saw a RAT yet.
I only have 1 long feeder with Sunflowers hanging, since all my bird feeding
soly on Suet!!!!!
Two birders from the Audubon came over the weekend to making the Big Great
Backyard Count, last week when I was on a fieldtrip in the Okanagon
Highlands. There had 16 species in a short time
Every one to let you know,my yard is converted in to a Sanctuary for
birds.Patrick and I worked for this in the late eighties,
NO Grass, and most all plants bushes and Trees a NATIVE of Washington.
Today was special since the birds for some reason having high energy,it
seems there had not a resting time.I found a new Varied thrush male who only
partly had the black breast band, but real yet black, this bird struggled
getting on to the Suet feeder,he jumped constantly up from the ground over
and over to get few bites,so that makes the count on this 4 birds left, since
the Coopers Hawks got 2 ore three birds
I also had the Snow cleared from my 4 Hummingbird feeders,This birds are so
tame almost hit you on the head and make the chase call a rapid dry
rattling,so long you are close to where he feeds,It is really hard to tell
how many Anna's I have, there been here for over 10 years and bred here,There
are usual 2 birds to one feeder what I Can see,but there could be more,There
are so active now summing fast around all day.
