Hello,

I spent a beautiful day in Lincoln County today. The temps ranged from -9
to 19 degrees, but there was very little wind. Lincoln County had less snow
than Spokane. Most places had only 2 to 3 inches. The roads down into Mill
and Hawk Creek Canyon were easy to manage. There were every few and minor
snow drifts in the open areas. Here are some of the highlights:

Coulee Hite Rd (Spokane County): 3 American Tree Sprarrows (first house on
the left, big fir trees).

Reardan: Eurasian Collared Doves (5) and a Merlin

Reardan - Davenport: 1 Short-eared Owl on Morrison Rd (late afternoon); 1
Snow Bunting with Horned Larks on Ziemer Rd just south of hwy 2

Mill Canyon; ("Ray's Place" - blue sign at a driveway on Green Cyn Rd about
.1 west of intersection with Mill Cyn Rd); N Pygmy Owl, Steller's Jay,
Cassin's and House Finches, Red Crossbills, Pine Siskins, Am Goldfinch, and
EVENING GROSBEAKS (2) among the chickadees and nuthatches normally
expected.

At the Spokane River: Bald Eagle (10), Herring Gull (1), Pied -billed
Grebe, N Pintail, Am Wigeon, Killdeer, WHITE HEADED WOODPECKER (at a
distance on the ridgeline above the river), Bewick's Wren. Golden-crowned
Kinglets, Varied Thrush, N Shrike.

Seven Bays Resort: Barrow's Goldeneye, Herring Gull, Great blue Heron (Fish
Hatchery pens), Varied Thrush, Downy and Hariy Woodpecker.

Hawk Creek Campground: Am Dippers (standing on ice singing away in 12
degree temps - wow!)

SW of Davenport: Corner of Valley and Miller Rd: 5 Snow Buntings in with
200 Horned Larks, Snow Buntings are found at this location often -
especially in late February after a snow.

Old Kuck's Rd: N Shrike, Rough-legged Hawks (2).

57 species - a good day.

Blessings
