Hello, tweets.

Netta and I delivered her brother to La Conner yesterday afternoon for a National Estuarine Marine Reserve meeting there and had a fine dinner at Seeds.

When driving back, from La Conner to Conway by the main route between about 6:30 and 7:00 pm, we saw FOUR Barn Owls along the road. It was snowing to beat the band and very windy, and each owl was flying along or just off the edge of the road, and we saw it somewhat ahead of us in our headlights. All were in flight when we saw them except one that I think took off from a utility pole. They all flew into the wind, and I wondered how successful they were going to be hunting small mammals with a few inches of snow on the ground and the wind affecting their hearing. I also wondered just how many Barn Owls there are in that area for us to see four of them that easily.

Anyway, if there are people who would like to see Barn Owls hunting, that area at that time of night (maybe an hour after dark) seemed pretty good. I don't know if it was because of the unusual weather conditions or is a nightly show.
