Eric and Tweeters,

Anyone wishing information about the current status of rare birds at and
near the Reifel Bird Sanctuary can phone the sanctuary office at (604)
946-6980 between 9 AM and 4 PM. The staff there, although not expert
birders, usually keep tabs on the status of rare and hard-to-see species for
the benefit of visitors.

And yes, at last word, there were still at least 2 Northern Saw-whet Owls
being seen regularly, as well as the Northern Hawk Owl along Westham Island
Road on the way in to Reifel.

I have a friend who will be visiting from the UK next week and he "needs" a
Northern saw whet owl. Just checking to see if anybody has been up to Reifel
lately and if NSOW are still there. Also, same question goes for the
Northern hawk owl (is it still being seen in the vicinity)?????

thanks for any info and updates.
