Birded with Bruce Labar, Annie Meyer, and Charlie Wright
this weekend covering mostly the Waterville Plateau to the Okanogan Highlands
around Chesaw on Saturday.? Sunday we
covered Conconully, Cameron Lake Road, Foster Creek Wildlife Area and the Sun
Lakes.? The weather was great for the
most part, sunny and clear on the Waterville Plateau and the Okanogan River
valley turning to snowing conditions in the highlands around Chesaw.? Very cold mostly hanging around 10-15 degrees
for the majority of the day Saturday, a bit warmer today.?

Canada Goose (Lesser) ? 6oo on Soap Lake, Grant 2/27



Cackling Goose (Tav) 4 on Soap Lake, Grant 2/27



Sharp-tailed Grouse ? 1 fly over at Foster Creek, Douglas
2/26, 1 at water birch near Happy Hill Rd, Conconully, Okanogan 2/27 and 30
feeding in water birch at Foster Creek Wildlife Area, Douglas 2/27 before a
Golden Eagle flushed them over the ridge.



Common Loon ? 10, Lake Pateros, Ok/Doug 2/26



Pied-billed Grebe ? 40, Lake Pateros, Ok/Doug 2/26



Horned Grebe ? 100, Lake Pateros, Ok/Doug 2/26



Eared Grebe ? 8, Lake Pateros, Ok/Doug 2/26



Northern Goshawk ? 1 immature male sitting on top of pine in
Conconully, Okanogan 2/27



Rough-legged Hawk ? Many throughout Okanogan/Douglas Counties

Golden Eagle ? 1 on Hwy 2 East of Orondo, Douglas 2/26, 1 at
Scotch Creek Wildlife Area, Okanogan, 2/27, 2 at Foster Creek Wildlife Area ?

Prairie Falcon ? 1 near Yeager Rock east of Mansfield,

Northern Saw-whet Owl ? 1 at Bridgeport SP and 1 at Highland

on Havillah Rd, Okanogan 2/26 and 1 on Cameron Lake Rd, Okanogan 2/27



Northern Shrike ? 16 individuals seen in 2 days, 1 at Mansfield Cemetery , and
2 more near Heritage Rd Douglas 2/26, 2 at Bridgeport SP, 5 along Hwy 97
between Hwy 17 and 97 intersection and Tonasket, and 3 more in the Okanogan
Highlands between Havillah and Chesaw, Okanogan 2/26. 3 along the Scotch Creek
Wildlife Area, Okanogan 2/27


Horned Lark ? 1000 on Waterville Plateau, Douglas 2/26


American Dipper ? 1 along Scotch Creek east of Conconully,
Okanogan 2/27


Bohemian Waxwing ? 30 along Wenatchee River, Chelan 2/26,
600 at intersection of Hwy 17 and 97 in large poplar (seems to be a reliable
site for them), Okanogan 2/26 and 1 individual in Conconully, Okanogan 2/27/11


Cedar Waxwing ? 20 in large flock of Bohemians at
intersection of Hwy 17 and 97, Okanogan 2/26
