Birds are such an amazing part of creation.? The ground feeders in my garden, varied thrush, spotted towhees, golden-crowned sparrows, juncos, and song sparrows have played such an important role in turning the brown lifeless lilac leaves into a beautiful leaf mulch for my garden.? All their hopping, scratching, and pecking has crumbled the leaves into a beautiful life-giving mulch for Spring flowers.?

These flying wonders have brightened up my drab winter garden and entertained me for months.? There is no way to repay these marvelous creatures.? All I have to offer is seeds thrown out a few times a week.? This just doesn't seem like enough for all they give to me.?
