Dear Tweeters,

For years I have wondered how to handle the listing category of "North Cascades National Park." This category has been on the "Washington Birder" list report for a long time. For bird listing purposes, the boundaries of this park might be perceived very diffently by various birders.

The park's own brochure shows the SR 20 corridor as being part of Ross Lake National Recreation Area. However, within this recreation area, there are national park signs, displays, and campgrounds. The same goes for Lake Chelan National Recreation Area. It, too, abuts the park, and seems to fall under the same umbrella of management.

So, here's the question, for that handful of birders who actually post their totals for this park. Do you count the recreation area(s) or not?

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
