A block from home yesterday (31st) returning from long walk to the Edmonds waterfront, realized there were 5 or so small green birds working over the bottom branches of a Doug-fir overhanging the sidewalk, so I froze and was treated to several minutes of close-up (~5 ft) and delightfully clear views of busy, lovely, little Golden-crowned Kinglets, the first I've seen in our neighborhood. A real treat. The first this morning? A crow, of course, stalking around the yard looking for breakfast. THen, a flicker.
