Here are the Vashon results from Sue Trevathan:

The Vashon CBC tallied a record number of owls and owl species on count day, Sunday, January 2. We counted owls on 4 separate land masses within our circle. On Vashon and Maury Islands we found 4 Barred Owls and 1 Barn Owl. Over in the Kitsap, Ken Brown and Ed Pullen found 2 Great Horned, 2 Barred, 1 Northern Saw-whet, and 1 Northern Pygmy Owl. The last three species were heard calling concurrently just before daylight. At Eagle Landing Park in Burien, Carol Schulz found a hooting Western Screech-Owl around 6:45 am. This brought our total to 12 owls and 6 owl species, our highest count ever.

Other notable finds for our circle included a Northern Harrier, Marsh Wren, Evening Grosbeak, and Mountain Quail in the Kitsap, a Western Scrub-Jay and several Redheads on Vashon, and Common Snipe in several locations. Unusual misses included Lincoln?s Sparrow and Hutton?s Vireo. Our preliminary species count is 121.
