Last night about 6pm I was attempting to snooze in my truck in the Safeway parking lot on North Broadway while waiting for my wife who was picking up a few items in the store. It was after a long day of pruning and I was pooped. First I was awakened by some dude knocking on my window wanting to wash my windows for bus fare. Just as I was nodding off again I came awake again to the sound of Snow Geese overhead, headed out to sea. Pretty cool to hear in this environment, which is better known for Hookers and Hosers than Snow Geese.
Slacker birding at it's finest.

I apparently have that middle-age syndrome where the part of ones brain that sorts out sound from your ears goes into retirement before your ears do - the sound comes in but background/middle ground/ foreground sounds tend to merge. So I was suprised to hear the Geese in the noisy parking lot and above the roar of traffic on Broadway - something about their wave-length of sound I can hear thru the city noise. There has been an execptional amount of Snow Goose traffic over Everett lately it seems.

Last week at my home in north Everett I was just coming out of a deep sleep one dark morning when I heard the Snow Geese calling overhead above my house. Snow Geese make a good snooze alarm. I fell back asleep with a smile on my face.
