Hi Tweeters,

Tried for the Tufted Duck today, no luck. Conditions were about as good as they get trying to find it despite the huge numbers of Scaup to scope through. No wind and overcast so no glare. I did see the Surf Scoters and both Goldeneyes at that location. No Black Scoter though. The condos have a pair of Mute Swans that were up on the rise so they were visible.

After a few hours of searching I gave up and went to La Framboise Rd where Scott Carpenter reported the Black Pheobe and had success. The bird was calling, a big help. It was very active and moved off after I found it and I could not find it again on the return trip. It was hanging out with Yellow-rumped Warblers like Scott reported. The location was near a large tension wire tower that had a single big oak in the field closeby. It was on the other side of the road where a flooded pond is.

I thought the road going north from La Framboise might take me NE to I-5, it didn't, but it did take me to a Great Egret at Salmon Creek Greenway trail on NW Seward Rd in a neighborhood called something similar to Felida. The cross street was NW Bliss Rd which did take me to I-5. The egret was visible from the road.

I also tried for the Red-shouldered Hawk near Longview but it was pretty late and the weather wasn't so good either in Longview. No luck there but a Red-tailed Hawk that flew across the road in front of me woke me up for the drive home.
