I really really shouldn't post because much of my birding email lately has not even been read, just deleted because it has nothing to do with actual bird sightings.

If someone is going to see a paparazzi worthy bird, ie. the Northern Hawk Owl, too bad.? That bird is as good as gold for photographers, like a movie star.? Ditto for megararities.

Not a long lens in sight looking for the Tufted Duck yesterday, nor for the Black Phoebe, nor for the Red-shouldered Hawk, though it was late and only a dedicated photog would have been there.? For the Harris's Sparrow Dec 31, four birders, one photographer/birder, not a bad ratio.? I guess I picked the rarities right in that case.

I too would like to know where to get honkin lenses for $2000.00, I might turn into a foul fowl photographer for that small of an investment, less than my scope cost.
