Hello,

Today, I enjoyed birding the morning in Walla Walla county and the
afternoon and evening in Columbia and Garfield counties. I began the day at
Ice Harbor Dam where I located Barrow's Goldeneyes (10), Am White Pelicans,
Western Gull, and N Shrike. Along hwy 12 (mp 300) was a Black-crowned Night
Heron and Tundra Swan and at the Two Rivers Unit, there were 10 Red
Breasted Mergansers and a Glaucous-winged Gull. Another Glaucous winged
Gull was obeserved at the river delta.

A quick trip up Biscuit Ridge Rd produced a Townsend's Solitaire and a
Varied Thrush and the town of Waitsburg hosted a flock of about 100
Bohemian Waxwings.

Crossing over into Columbia County, I stopped briefly in Lewis and Clark
State Park where I located a flock of Pine Siskins and a pair of Red
Crossbills. Along Hwy 261, I found a Cooper's Hawk and a little further
down at the mouth of the Tucannon River a Northern Goshawk flew right above
me. There were Hooded Mergansers and Buffleheads in the area as well. In
the cliffs near Little Goose Dam were a few Gray crowned Rosy Finches.

At dusk, I stopped at the mouth of Deadman Creek in Garfield County (SR
127). I immediately flushed a Great Horned Owl out of the willows, but the
real fun was a pair Western Screech Owls persistently calling closeby. The
day came to a close with a screaming Barn Owl at the entrance into Central
Ferry Park in Whitman County.
