Shouldn?t we all celebrate the fact that we are carrying glass into the field to study birds, not a shotgun as was done in the early days of our hobby? Many of the most revered early birders, Audubon include, made records of bird species using the shotgun method to ?collect? detailed information. For my part, I am pleased to see a lens mounted in any type of housing, at any price range, over the historic method of ?collecting? data on birds.

Birding is many things to many people, I think we should all quit worrying what/how much and who and go do some birding/ photgraphing, It's good for the soul.

Happliy birding,

p.s. I haven't had to puke while birding ever.

Am I the only one who wants to puke whenever a brigade of "birders" show up with a bunch of $2000 cameras with big honkin'-ass lenses?

Aren't we birdWATCHERS first and foremost? Shouldn't we leave the picturing to the the likes of National Geographic? I just want to chase down a rare bird for once and find people with BINOCULARS ONLY.
