Hi all,

A few sightings yesterday (9 Jan 2011) from Okanogan and Douglas counties that may be of interest. Nothing surprising:

- 5 Sharp-tailed Grouse at Scotch Creek Wildlife Area
- 7 Northern Shrikes; 3 in Okanogan County, 4 in Douglas
- the southern half of Cameron Lakes Rd was pretty quiet and cold and windy; I didn't see any birds until I got to Timentwa Rd, where there were Horned Lark and Snow Buntings in the usual locations (around the livestock). On the way out, I saw 2 Golden Eagles, one at the intersection of Timentwa and Cameron Lakes roads and the other near the southern end of Cameron Lakes Rd. I dipped on Gyrfalcon
- 100+ Bohemian Waxwings at Lower Central Ferry Canyon and a Killdeer in the runoff alongside the road
- 3 Rough-legged Hawks, 1 Prairie Falcon, the previously-reported Snowy Owl, and scattered flocks of Snow Buntings on the Waterville Plateau
- about 15 Gray Partridges at Withrow and another 20 at the intersection of Hwy 172 and 2

I put a few non-award-winning photos on my blog for those who care about such things: http://zbirdtours.com/blog

p.s. On Saturday (8 Jan), there were two swans at the mouth of the Okanogan River. It was getting pretty late, there wasn't a good spot to pull over, and there was a car behind me, so I didn't stop. I had hoped to ID them on Sunday, but they weren't there when I went by.
