It is amazing to me how the diversity of birds can change from
year to year. Before this year, I had only seen Evening Grosbeaks 4-5
times in Seattle in 40 years. They have never come to our backyard
feeders. So it was a surprise when they appeared at our house, above
Magnuson Park, in early December. It first there were 3, then 5. Today
there were 7 jousting for spots at the feeder, 3 males and 4
females/immatures. So now I am wondering what next will decide to visit
us.
