I heard it for the first time too today. The song sparrow I know and love
in my backyard in W. Seattle called out a lovely song beginning near dawn.

This morning I suddenly noticed many Song Sparrows singing just before dawn
for 3 miles along Lake Washington Blvd as I did my daily run from Leschi to
Madison Park and back. Before today I had only heard them call. Maybe they
are about to start their mating season?
The "3 species gaggle" (Canada, Cackling and Greater White Front) of geese
continues to graze on the grass between Mt. Baker beach and just south of
Stan Sayres pits along Lake Washington Blvd.
