I used to live next to the sax/zim bog and would drive through on my
way to work. The years of the owl invasions were spectacular! This
is my first winter in Semiahmoo (to get away from the snow...) and I
will return to Minnesota in time to do the Big Day in May.

If you go, bring very cold weather gear, just in case. You will be
guaranteed to see Great Grays, N Hawk Owls, Boreal Chickadees (unless
there is a blizzard or high winds and 20 below--this is quite
possible in early February as is the elusive "February Thaw"). Lots
of woodpeckers. I can't go this year but lots of my friends are
acting as guides. They will treat you well.

If you are willing to stay on, ask someone about seeing timberwolves,
spruce grouse, and moose. They are usually in Lake County on Hwy 1.
This is north of duluth but worth an extra day and the drive.
