As the sun was setting and the tide was going out on Lummi Bay, I watched a Gyrfalcon take a wigeon and then settle down for a nice dinner on the beach. The Gyr had barely started its meal when over 5,000 waterfowl took flight in response to the low approach of a Bald Eagle. They needn't have worried---the eagle wasn't after them!

The Gyr barely resisted as the eagle claimed its prize.
