Subject: [Tweeters] Golden Crowned Kinglets

Several times around here, over several winters I have met flocks of these
kinglets feeding on the ground, usually in wet spots. I've seen them in Fort
Worden and, most recently, on the Discovery Bay golf course. I've never
myself seen Ruby Crowned with them. As others have noted they are very tame
- engrossed in what they are doing.

I wonder if saturated soil drives springtails and other small soil insects
to the surface at times.
