Dick Johnson and I looked for the owl on Bell Hill today but with no luck,
despite walking and driving most of the roads up there.I would not be
surprised if it is out on one of the spits now.

We did find two small flocks of Trumpeter Swans - 16 on Port Williams Rd and
19 on the Sequim -Dungeness Rd, and also a Peregrine and a Ring Billed Gull,
both near the Three Crabs.

The highlight of the day, however was a tall heron, with pure white
underparts and pale grey back. Being originally from England, I thought we
had found a European Grey Heron. When I got the scope on it I realised it
was a wooden decoy.

Now why would anyone want a heron as a decoy?
