Dennis et al,

It seems like every year we see a few swallows at Nisqually in January.
Not sure why or where they go before the main flock arrives in March or so,
but we've had them at Nisqually for the last couple of years. It is
strange to see swallows stooping on ice covered ponds.

Tweeters is getting so interesting it's going to have to charge an
admission fee!

I just got off the phone with Curt of Curt and Bobby Pearson and they
report about 12 Tree Swallows overhead of the Nisqually headquarters. Are
these Tree Swallows getting earlier and earlier or is it just me?

Also, if anyone happens to have any shots of elaborate winter hummingbird
feeding setups they do complete with warming shop-lights or some-such
devices, and they wouldn't mind me putting up the shots on my site, thanks in
advance for emailing the pics to me. They'd go up on my website at the
"Something new under the sun" post and of course be credited. (that's
