All three merganser species are huntable and can be shot during hunting
season (which ends in WA on January 30). There is no bag limit and you can
take up to 7 per day in a normal bag. Now, why anyone would shoot them
during hunting season is beyond me as they are not edible in that there meat
is fishy tasting due to their diet.
